The best of the Emerging Designer Awards Ceremony 2025

The (Emerging) Designer Awards returned for its third year, presented by Artedomus and The Local Project, to award collectively nine outstanding Winners and Commended recipients, across four categories.

Held at the Artedomus Galleria in Melbourne and co-hosted by Phil Brenton, managing director at Artedomus, and Aidan Anderson, founder and CEO of The Local Project, the evening attracted around 200 attendees.

In his opening address Phil acknowledged the calibre of entries that “continues to exceed our expectations”. “It’s a reflection of the depth of ingenuity and creativity in Australia today, and a testament to the entrepreneurship and skill that fuels our design community,” he said.

“I’d also like to take a moment to acknowledge our esteemed jury, each of whom has brought their insight, expertise, and generosity of time to this year’s judging process,” said Aidan. Those jurors are: Alice Blackwood, editorial director at Artedomus, Yasmine Ghoniem, director at YSG Studio, Chris Haddad, co-director at Archier, Virginia Jen, editor at The Local Project, and Thomas Coward, creative director of Artedomus and New Volumes.

In the true tradition of the awards, the ceremony shone a light on early-career designers who demonstrated originality, innovation as well as vision and rigour through both process and outcome. This year the awards received over 110 high quality entries from architects, interior designers and product designers across categories of Residential Interior, Residential Architecture, Commercial Interior and Product Design.
