Mona Lane is a multi-level family home positioned on the banks of the Brunswick River. Inspired by the unobtrusive beauty of the Japanese aesthetic, the main residence is clad in dark Accoya timbers that contrast against the natural asymmetry of lush gardens and planting.

The Louise Walsh team worked closely with Artedomus to procure slabs of beautifully veined Magnesia and Japanese glazed porcelain tiles. Magnesia is a hard wearing quartzite with a rich, deep colour and beautiful soft variation. In the kitchen pantry, Yuki Border Japanese ceramics were used. The gentle curved Yuki Border form is naturally created by using split bamboo which ties in perfectly with the Japanese aesthetic of the entire home.
With a tactile materiality both inside and out, the Louise Walsh team realised the brief of creating a sophisticated, timeless interior that was highly functional for their entertaining lifestyle and enhanced their serene water views.
The project comprised the main three-level family home and two separate, luxurious apartments.
