Last month, Artedomus hosted our first Open House experience in Tasmania, spending a week inside View House, a home designed by Archier. Here, our architectural surfaces and products could be seen and experienced, embedded into the architecture and woven into everyday life.

Taking its name from the breathtaking views across Sandy Bay, View House by Chris Haddad, architect and founding director of Archier, is nestled amongst the bushland of this Hobart suburb. Designed for Chris’ parents, the brief was clear: a home that would feel inviting, warm and comfortable. Chris responded with a two-storey residence built around a palette of materials that balance functionality with enduring beauty – most notably, Artedomus Cotto Manetti terracotta tiling set in dialogue with Japanese ceramics by INAX.

“View House has a spectacular outlook across Sandy Bay, and while the Tasmanian climate can sometimes be harsh and unforgiving, Archier has used beautiful warm colours and textures, including our Cotto Manetti terracotta, to make the home feel warm and inviting,” says Phil Brenton, Managing Director, Artedomus.

To mark Artedomus’ first Open House experience in Tasmania, View House became the setting for a week-long event welcoming the local architecture and design community. “The owners were very generous with their home, which features many Artedomus products throughout. Our team created a series of beautiful moments inside to complement the finishes already embedded in the architecture,” says Phil. “We also curated a selection of new products, many from our Expo ’26 showcase in Melbourne, and brought them to Tasmania so local designers could experience them in situ. These included pieces from Mutina Bricks and New Volumes, alongside stone and mosaic samples.”

For many attendees, the open house offered a rare opportunity to see materials performing in a lived-in home, embedded in the architecture and standing the test of time, six years on. “It was great to see so many of our architecture and design friends take time out of their day to visit View House and experience the products in person,” Phil adds.
